We are currently Skyping with a class in Sydney, Australia. We all just introduced ourselves to each other. Now, we are comparing important and inspirational women for National Women's Day. So far, we have discussed many admirable people such as Michelle Obama, Ellen Degeneres, Oprah Winfrey, Amelia Earhart, and Katherine Johnson. All of the students there have prepared information for us about important women who have made a difference in their country. We learned about many women in Australia. They have done remarkable things such as running the 5,000 meter race and many more impeccable woman. We are comparing our schools: like the school day length, the first and last day of school, the subjects, and the schooling levels. We learned that they call primary school what we call elementary schools. They must bring laptops to school everyday and wear uniforms to school. They have regular iPads and and laptops at school just like we do. The interviewers are comparing trends (like Fortnite) and we are getting ready to do a minute-to-win-it challenge with them. Their task is to build a tower as high as possible with only marshmallows and toothpicks. They are working while on a three minute timer. Ours ended up winning the challenge, and overall we had such a great time. It was awesome getting to Skype with them because we learned so many interesting facts about them. It was about 9:30 and about 3:30 in Australia on a Friday.
