Kaohsiung City, Taiwan

We Skyped next with a school in Taiwan, and discussed our favorite snacks from each of our countries. There are six groups that are going to tell us about Taiwanese traditions. We started with popped rice treats from Taiwan. The Rice Krispie Treats we have here in the U.S. are similar to the popped rice treats. Next, we are showing them our favorite snacks. Yen is showing the students Nacho Cheese Doritos. Alyssa is showing the students her favorite snack which is Sun Chips and Cheetos. Most of the foods that we show the students, they have never heard of. A popular snack here, Goldfish, the students have also heard of and they are sold in Taiwan.
The second group we are listening to is talking about boba tea or bubble milk tea. We explained we have a frozen yogurt shop across the street that has boba as a topping, which is very popular. We showed this second group the same snacks we showed the first one. We also showed them soda, including Dr Pepper, Coke, and root beer. Yen brought wafer cookies to show also.

The food that the fourth group is talking about is a jello like substance that people put in milk and tea. It looks like purple jello. The fifth group told us about the traditional Taiwanese snack. It is a soupy food served in a bowl. The sixth group showed us a type of tea that is kept in a fairly large bottle. They also showed us potato chips, and they said they are hard to find because potatoes are not fresh and are not grown often.

At the very end of the groups presenting their foods, we got to do a race and see who could build the tallest tower out of toothpicks/chopsticks and marshmallows.
